Melanie’s parents arrived yesterday. We celebrated Dad’s birthday together, but Melanie was ready to have the house quiet as things seemed to be happening. We called the midwife, who came over to check out how things were going. Melanie was disappointed to hear she was only in early early labour. So the midwife left, promising she could be back within five minutes as needed, but encouraging us to get some rest.
After a couple of hours of “resting,” things got going just before 1am. The midwife, a student and the required second midwife arrived and we had a couple of hours of action. Actually, Melanie did really well and was able to deliver Kaylah at 3:06am, essentially unscathed and very thankful for God’s blessing!
Kaylah (Who is like God?) Amy (beloved) Eliana (My God has answered) Mead weighed in at 9lbs, is about 20 inches long, and is learning what it means to have four older siblings desperate to take care of you! We’re ready for sleep, but I imagine some pics would be appreciated, so:
A few minutes old…
Our biggest baby…
The children were upstairs during the birth, but anxious to meet Kaylah asap!
Hannah’s first hold…
A happy and thankful mother of five!
