Last night I made my first trip of the year to a Christian Union meeting. Bath University is less than half an hour from home and a real blessing to visit. Last night I was asked to speak on Philippians 2:1-11. The CU were joined by the Bath Chinese Christian Fellowship, a smaller group of students mostly from Hong Kong. It was great to worship together and hear testimonies from people who have become Christians since coming to university, or who have been used by God in reaching their friends (even in the midst of fear and trembling!)
I think my message went well and enjoyed several very encouraging conversations afterwards. One student came to thank me, telling me that he had come from overseas to Bath and had really messed up a lot during the first weeks of being here. He said he was starting to doubt the whole notion of a relationship with God, wondering if we had just made it all up. He said the message was exactly what he needed to get things back on track.
Let’s be praying for students in our universities. It is a key time in life. Some really will shipwreck their faith. Others will become solidly established. Please pray for Bath Uni CU and the BCCF to really be fruitful in both discipleship and evangelism. I’m hoping to get the chance to visit the other local universities too . . . Bristol, UWE, Bath Spa. If you know anyone involved in these CU’s, please let them know I’m available 🙂
