Recalibrating Normal . . .

Sometimes it’s tempting to recalibrate normal.  For example, after a week of colds, we’re all pretty much over them . . . but poor little Joel is miserable (reacting to his one-year injections).  After a couple of weeks of schooling again, it has sounded to me (Dad working upstairs) that there has been less than motivated and obedient attitudes downstairs.  So on some days it is tempting to recalibrate normal – maybe normal is children unwell, and maybe normal is children fighting and struggling with their attitudes?  I suppose really it is a reminder to count our blessings, stay thankful and press on – it’s a blessing to have children to train, we can be thankful for generally good health and we need to press on in all aspects of parenting and life.  This weekend I am leading a preaching seminar in Guildford.  Roughly 20 people are coming, some from across the country, and I am excited about it.  Please pray for my preparation this week, and for the participants that they’ll be ready and able to come on Saturday.  I’ll give more details later in the week.  Right now the house is quiet, Melanie is at a planning meeting and I intend to redeem this window of time!
