Our Ministry

The primary focus of our ministry is preaching, Bible teaching and ministry training. We tend to think of the ministry in three types of settings. In each of these settings we are seeking to develop several ongoing relationships in order to make a lasting impact (although we are always open to any invitation, even if it is for a one-time visit).

1. Local Churches / Christian Unions - The local church is the focus of God’s work in the world during this age. I also include in this category university Christian Unions, which are always a joy to visit. We serve the church through preaching and teaching, with the goal of strengthening the church. As well as preaching in church services, we also offer training seminars in various areas of Bible and ministry skills. We are rooted in our church in Caterham, but travel to speak in other churches regularly.

For information on Biblical Preaching Seminars, please click on the link in the right-hand bar – the website for preachers. These seminars are church-based and contained within a weekend. I am looking for more venues for these seminars in the months ahead. The information is under the “Course” tab.

As well as serving local churches in Britain, we also preach in churches internationally as opportunities arise. We enjoy getting back to Italy when we can, although my Italian could use a bit of help (I can preach in Italian, but feel very limited).

2. OM & Other Missions Events - It was at a missions-focused event that my life was radically changed back in 1994. We are excited to be involved with OM and other missions settings for preaching and training opportunities. For example, I sometimes give Bible teaching at a missionary conference, training on getting guidance God’s way in a missions team event, preaching training for people expected to preach in a field such as the ships, or a challenge to serve in missions at a youth event.

3. Bible Schools One of the greatest joys in life for me is to take a few days and teach a class in a college or seminary. The relationships that can be built, the systematic teaching that can be given, the impact that can be made . . . it is hard to describe! I know that my heart has been moved, my ministry has been developed and my relationship with the Lord has been strengthened many times as a student in a classroom setting. So I try to teach regularly as opportunities arise.

My primary subject areas are homiletics (preaching) and New Testament. I enjoy teaching Bible classes, such as a survey of the New Testament, or of the Old Testament prophets, not to mention individual book classes like John, Romans, Hebrews, etc. I enjoy teaching the theology of salvation, of the end-times, of the church, of the Bible, etc. I also enjoy teaching hermeneutics (how to interpret the Bible), and other practical classes including conflict resolution, Biblical mentoring, Biblical leadership, missiology and so on. Over time I hope to teach more homiletics, but don’t intend to leave the other subjects behind.

In recent years I have enjoyed teaching in Kenya, Serbia, Sri Lanka, England, Scotland and the USA. I am always open to possible teaching opportunities.

Other Ministry – There is plenty of other ministry as well, although it doesn’t get mentioned so much.  Increasingly Peter is trying to carve out time to write.  We’ll keep you updated as that comes to fruition in various forms.  We feel that it is worth pursuing this aspect of ministry, as time allows, since it allows for a wider influence than speaking does.
