Well, to be honest, I was expecting this day to be pretty horrible when I woke up. I had a hard time sleeping last night – I was cold (we need to find our winter duvet!) and hungry. I was so cold, I couldn’t bear the thought of getting up to get something to eat, but finally did it and then fell asleep, but it was very late. I woke up when Peter left at 4am and slept fitfully for the rest of the night. I woke feeling exhausted very discouraged about a lot of things. Anyway, a combination of a sweet friend’s wisdom on the phone this morning and God’s word and supernatural strength has totally carried me through this day. I read Psalm 145 . . . here are few snippets just to get you to pick up your Bible and read the whole thing!
Vs. 1 – 4 I will extol you, my God, O king! I will praise your name continually! Every day I will praise you! . . . The LORD is great and certainly worthy of praise! No one can fathom his greatness! One generation will praise your deeds to another, and tell about your mighty acts! (NOTE from me: This is my mission as a mum!)
Verse 5 – I will focus on your honor and majestic splendour, and your amazing deeds!
Verse 8 – The LORD is merciful and compassionate; he is patient and demonstrates great loyal love. The LORD is good to all and has compassion on all he has made.
Vss. – 19 – The LORD supports all who fall, and lifts up all who are bent over. Everything looks to you in anticipation, and you provide them with food on a regular basis . . . The LORD is just in all his actions, and exhibits love in all he does. The LORD is near to all who cry out to him, all who cry out to him sincerely. He satisfies the desire of his loyal followers, he hears their cry for help and delivers them.
OK, I guess that was more than a few snippets . . . I got carried away. I lost my Bible last night (in the car I think) so I used Peter’s NET Bible . . . a refreshing translation.
Our day has been normal and routine – school and meals and even a shopping trip – but God has been so in it for me, lifting me up and giving me the strength for everything. I have enjoyed the children so much today. What a privilege to get to spend so much time with them. Despite TWO jam jars within one hour getting smashed on the floor tonight by a certain little almost-four-year old who will remain nameless 🙂 (No, I am SURE these were accidents), I am feeling very thankful for each of them. When we prayed after dinner, doing “popcorn” prayers (quickies from different people), one of Joel’s prayers was “Thank you God that you are always on our side.” Amen to that one!
A Peter update . . . I spoke to him tonight and his workshop had gone very well and has enjoyed the day despite being exhausted. He was heading for bed early. Thanks for your continued prayers for him.
